2020 Memorial Day Weekend Wood Bat Tournament

UpdatedTuesday January 21, 2020 byMichael Curry.

We at Nipmuc Youth Baseball (NYB) are excited to announce our Inaugural Wooden Bat Tournament for Memorial Day Weekend 2020.
For those of you unfamiliar, NYB is comprised of the towns of Mendon & Upton and located off of 495, about 20 minutes south of the Massachusetts Turnpike and 20 minutes north of Foxboro.

Here are the particulars:
* BATS -
This will be a Wooden Bat tournament.  Only wood or wood composite bats will be allowed.     NYB will provide some wood bats at each field to be used for players who do not own one.
~ We will be using an Open Registration format - NO All-Stars, AAU, EBL or stacked teams allowed.
~ To maintain the competitive integrity of the tournament please allow any players from your town programs to sign up that meet the age criteria.
~ maximum of 12 players per roster.  Everyone hits and everyone plays the field with free substitutions.
* AGE -
~ U12.  Players must be no older than 12 on the cut-off date of April 30, 2020.
~ Cal Ripken Majors - this will be on our 50/70 intermediate diamonds with leading and dropped third strikes.
~ Pitching - to be determined… but we will most likely use an innings cap rather than pitch limits.
~ This will be a 16 team tournament with a 3 game minimum in pool play.  Playoffs will start at the end of pool play.
~ $400 per team.  We are asking for a $100 deposit to secure your spot.
~ checks only, made out to Nipmuc Youth Baseball
~ NYB will provide all game baseballs & umpires during the tournament.  Each program will be responsible for their players’ wood bats.
~ NYB has two full service snack shacks at their fields and will be serving “real food” as well as snack, drinks, ice cream, etc…
~ NYB will be selling tournament t-shirts featuring the programs that register.
~ Team, championship & runner-up trophies will be provided.
~ More info to follow in the coming months.
Do not hesitate, as the first 15 programs that I receive a check from will be guaranteed a spot.
